Romeo & Juliet
Romeo & Juliet
Featuring his co-star, Katy Kragel, who starred as Juliet in Act II.
In the Spring semester of Jamari’s junior year at USC, he had the most amazing experience studying abroad in London, at the British American Drama Academy (BADA).
There, he completed a 15-week conservatory-style program focused on intensive theatrical training, refining his craft through courses in Acting, Shakespeare, Movement, Voice, Physical Theatre, Physical Comedy, Scene Analysis, and Stage Combat.
The program consisted of the first eight weeks being focused on classes and the last five weeks of the program preparing for our shows.
Jamari was cast as Gregory and Romeo in the London Theatre Program’s Spring 2024 production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
This performance marked Jamari’s first Shakespeare production and while it was a challenge playing a titular role, it’s taught him a lot about himself as an actor and the pay off was more than deserving.
With directors Bethan Clarke and Rebecca Todd, they were able to give Jamari the push he needed to play Romeo authentically as possible, in a way that fit Jamari as an actor but also in a way that was authentic to the story that was being told.
